Karen W. Magdich

Managing Partner

Karen W. Magdich is the managing partner of Magdich Law,  a certified women-owned business and an active member of NAMWOLF.

Ms. Magdich devotes a significant amount of her practice to the representation of insurance companies, self-insured corporations and businesses in a wide variety of civil litigation matters.   Her practice concentrates on the defense of complex litigation, involving catastrophic injuries, fraud and medical malpractice.  She has successfully handled matters in state and federal court, as well as in front of arbitration panels.

A highly effective and accomplished trial attorney, Ms. Magdich has tried numerous cases involving PIP claims, insurance fraud, third party actions, premises liability, professional negligence and commercial litigation.  Several carriers regularly retain Ms. Magdich to take over legal proceedings or consult with other retained counsel in the defense and trial of complex cases.

  • Successfully argued the case of Frazier v. Allstate in the Michigan Supreme Court, overturning the trial court, resulting in a defense verdict.
  • Acted as first chair trial counsel for Progressive Insurance Company in a matter involving first-party no-fault benefits, resulting in a defense verdict and finding of fraud by the medical providers.
  • Acted as first chair trial counsel for State Farm, in a first-party and uninsured motorist trial in Wayne County Michigan, resulting in a defense verdict and finding of fraud on the part of the insured.
  • Effectively advocated as first chair counsel for a local physician in the defense of a wrongful death action in St. Clair County, resulting in a Directed Verdict for the doctor. Ms. Magdich also expertly handled the appellate process and the matter was upheld by the Court of Appeals.

A graduate of St. Louis University School of Law, Ms. Magdich has obtained licensure in Michigan, Illinois and Missouri.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management with a minor in Business Law.
